How fees work
Orthodontic care is billed as a course of treatment. Here is how paying works, in the order most families ask.
Insurance we work with
We are in network with some dental PPO plans and we file those claims for you. For other plans we are out of network, and we give you the paperwork to send. Orthodontic benefits are separate from the benefits for cleanings and fillings. We are not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP.

If you pay yourself
You get a written estimate before treatment, and you decide with it in hand. Ask about paying in installments over the course of treatment; terms are in writing before you agree. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

Receipts for reimbursement
If your plan reimburses out-of-network care, we give you an itemized statement to send it. The plan decides what it pays.

An estimate in advance
You can ask for a written estimate before any treatment. If you are paying without insurance, we give you a written estimate in advance, when you schedule or whenever you ask. It lists the treatment, the visits we expect and the fee.

Checking your benefits
Before treatment starts we check your plan's orthodontic benefit and tell you what we find. Call the number on your card if you want to ask the plan yourself: ask what it pays for orthodontics, and for which ages.

What the first visit includes
About 45 minutes: a talk about what you want, an exam by the orthodontist, X-rays or scans only if they are needed, and a written estimate if you ask for one. Fill in your health history on our private patient portal, not by email or in the contact form.

Questions about a fee?
Ask before you come. We can tell you what the estimate will cover, and how your plan's orthodontic benefit works.
